tragedy. oh wait! just kidding.

i want to be in a tragic accident that results in me going into a mini-coma where all of my teachers give me A's, i wake up unscathed RIGHT after finals are over, and then i pack and leave for korea. the end.

this is how i feel. lethargic. blarg.

oh yeah. by the way, i'm leaving for korea in three weeks for the whole summer, and i am stoked! haven't been to the motherland in 9 years. i just booked my flight today so everything is becoming all too real. it's really bad actually. i cannot seem to focus on my studies and my lab report due tomorrow. smh at myself. sigh.

whine-o

march 17, 2011

currently at the gt libs at 6:32 AM, studying for my EMOP (electrical, magnetic, and optical properties for you non-techies, and yes, we have a whole course on these properties of materials) and history tests which is going down in T minus 5.49 hours. started off the night complaining about electrons and the stupid Schrödinger equations that i had to memorize. i seriously was staring at a page of scribbles in utter confusion and depression because i knew i was going to fail my test. but my friend, roscoe (he's cool because he's in a "band" and roscoe is not really his real name. i just like to call him that.) explained all this gibberish to me. and i am now wide awake because i am starting to understand everything. science, physics, and electrons are so interesting. lately, i've been complaining about my course load and about having to learn all these nonsensical properties of electrons. probability density, Hamiltonian operators, infinite potential barriers, thermionic and field emission, electron hole charge carriers, doped n-type and p-type semiconductors, conduction and valence bands, Fermi energy levels, blah, blah, blah, etc. but i think i am beginning to appreciate all of this more and more. when i understand what i'm learning, i get really really excited. not only because i might actually get a decent grade on my test, but because i really truly am intrigued and amazed by the science and math of it all, and i actually really love my major. sigh, i am so bipolar. mse and i have this love/hate relationship. i hate this stuff ... no, i actually really like it ... oh but these derivations! ugh ... nahhhhh, it's alright. anyway, i was getting really frustrated this week with my mse classes. so much that i was considering changing my major, even transferring, or just dropping out of school. i don't want to do derivations the rest of my life!!! but ... i love my major. for now :)

test scores are out! I ACED BOTH OF THEM. which is pretty freaking incredible considering i totally bombed the last EMOP test and barely passed my history test. eek! happy happy joy joy :-) roscoe and i shall study together again for the next test! and we will eat junior's breakfast platters just like last time, hehe.

how to have a social life at tech

1) Eat lunch at Student Center every day.
2) Go to CRC at 10:00 PM until midnight.
3) Proceed to library and stay until 4:00 AM.
4) Repeat until graduation (which will be in ≥4 years).

rosado no es mi color favorito, pero...

Been round and about lately, busy with mostly school. 3 tests this week + 2 test next week. It's the test week period so I've been having crazy study sessions lately. Like the picture on the left. The day before my calculus test, I didn't know anything. I literally learned everything in the time span between 11 PM Sunday night to 7 AM Monday morning for my 8 AM test. Yes, we pulled an all-nighter for this test. Surprisingly, I wasn't tired... Weird, it's that combo of caffeine and midday naps. I think this sleep schedule is throwing me off so much. I am nocturnal. Quoting OAT, "I used to go to sleep, now I go to Tech." Haha, so true. I've been so lazy this past week, but I am beginning to catch on to the benefits of productivity. I absolutely love the feeling of getting everything done early and just chillin' --- WALE! Lookin at, lookin at, lookin at me~ Hahaha :)

Check it. This delish chicken salad that I concocted and brought from
home. Eaten with whole wheat crackers. YUM-OHSSSSSSSSSS!
INGREDIENTS: shredded chicken breast, a can of corn,
almond slivers, mayonnaise, salt, pepper, paprika, honey

Disclaimer: I did not set this up!
One day, J and I come home from CRC and she's sitting on the couch on
her laptop I noticed that everything on my side of the couch was pink!
This just proves that I'm sucha girly girl. Almost everything I own is pink
even though it's not my favorite color. I just like to match all my things, hehe.

I loved my outfit today. I love fashion. I love photography.
Today, I wore my knee-high boots for the second time since I bought them. They were soooo warm in the blistering cold blizzard that hit Atlanta today. Goodness, it was so windy. I wore my new khaki sherpa-lined coat, too :) I went on a little photog outing by myself. I was bored, hehe. Excuse the quality. A lot of it was lost when I was generating this cute little GIF for you guys! I'll post them on my flickr if you want to get a better look!

As I was wandering around Barnes & Noble the other day, a book of Tim Burton's art caught my eye. As I was leafing through the book, jaw drop, foreal. I was ridiculously amazed at his artwork. So simple, yet so innovative with a slight morbid touch. I love it all. I was sooooo inspired that I bought a sketchbook on the spot, totally forgetting about my much-needed chemistry lab manual, and sketched a few Burton pieces into the fresh pages. Maggliozzi said that "drawing is exercise for a restless imagination." I feel like my brain is so dead lately. I need to reactivate the creativity sector in my brain. I'm hoping that drawing more will stimulate the right-side of my brain so I can be better at math. Hahaha. Hm, I wonder what goes on inside Tim Burton's mind? I want to go to his exhibit at MoMA now! Agh, someone take me!!!

Hm, on the less inspiring side of my life, school is definitely going to be harder this semester. I signed up for two lab classes, CHEM1310 and PHYS2211. I know, I'm Loco Coco. So my classes this semester are Chemistry I, Physics I, Calc III, Korean II, and Econ. I didn't want to get behind in my prerequisites so I just decided last-minute to take chemistry. 18 HOURS BABY! WOO! A lot of people are doubting me, but I think I can do it. Maybe. Those 8:00AM calculus lectures are killin' me though. So hard to wake up when it's still somewhat dark outside. Poopy.

I think I'd dread going to lecture less if my lecture hall looked like this.

second semester of hell

DAILY UPDATES OF MY FIRST WEEK OF SECOND SEMESTER

day one
My first day of school was overwhelming. Mondays are my busiest days. Four classes and so unevenly spaced out. Gah! But I will update more later because I need to sleep and I have to copy my notes again before I sleep so Jacklyn is making me blog tomorrow, haha. Hope everyone's first days went well! :)

---update
MATH2401 Once again, another Chinese TA. But at least I've caught up with their accents. They all eerily have the same accent and pronounce certain words in the same way. Maybe it's a Chinese thing? Nothing against Chinese people though, whatsoever.
PHYS2211 Yay! Everyone's in this class! It's my first class EVER with Jina. I never even had a class with her in high school, so it seems kind of weird? Haha. But I think this is going to be my hardest class :(
ECON2100 I love my econ professor! I could just pinch his cheeks and pat him on the head. He talks fast, has a super chill personality, and the final is optional. How cool is that?!?!
HPS1040 I haven't seen anyone I know in this class yet, which is pretty awesome because I need to meet new people, haha. Supposedly, this is the easier health class? Seems pretty easy to me so far, lots and lots of extra credit opportunities. Oh, and no final :)

Lesson of the Day: Respect yourself and others will respect you, too.

My roommate, me, and my best friend in our first day outfits. Sorry for the bad
picture quality! We were in a hurry to go eat, but lovin' the layered look! :)

day two

MATH2401 I have my calculus II TA from last semester as my professor this semester. I love him! He's so nice, hehe.
KOR2002 The Tech Ratio is truly reflected in this class. I am the only girl. Seriously. Even the professor is a male. Sigh.
And then I'm done! I love my Tuesdays ♥

Rant of the Day: I am honestly sick of getting ignored. I know it may seem funny to you guys, but it really upsets me.

I liked my outfit today. Abercrombie shirt, vintage denim button-up, vintage sweater cardigan, Victoria's Secret black jeans, Urban Outfitters tweed sneakers, Icing mittens, and you can't see them but I wore my vintage unicorn earrings today! Yes, I know I'm taking pictures of my outfits in the dorm bathroom. I'm a loser, haha :P

Okay, two days is enough. Next blog post! Haha, I have commitment problems.
