this year, my parents wanted to go out to restaurant to eat thanksgiving dinner. really? who does that? so i took the liberty to cook the whole thanksgiving feast myself. sans the turkey and ham (my stepdad wouldn't let me because we're "wasting" the gas by using the oven so we just bought them -____-). my brothers helped out with the stirring, mixing, and watching while my parents slept in. all in all, it was a very fun and rewarding experience. just sitting around a table with good food and good people having a good time. i love having a big family! i know that i want to have a big family once i get married. hahaha, it's a little early for me to be thinking about that kind of stuff but just from experience, i know it's what i want no matter the financial sacrifice. anyway, here's my thanksgiving feast!
spring baby green salad with pears, walnuts, feta cheese, and dried
cranberries, blueberries, and golden raisins tossed in balsamic vinegar and olive oil
creamy au gratin potatoes with celery and bacon
bits topped with melted cheddar cheese
spiced cinnamon cranberry sauce with lemon zest
baked salmon penne with celery and green onions in parmesan
and cream cheese sauce with a saltine cracker crust
chicken, apple, and blueberry stuffing (this was my fave, yum.)
honey-glazed corn muffins with real corn kernels baked into them
sweet potato souffle with crunchy cinnamon
toast crust with melted marshallows
my plate!
the food critics. they liked it.
i took a twist on the traditional thanksgiving side dishes. but everything was homemade! ask me for recipes if it looks that good, hehe :)
Can I be in your family? hehehe
